Handball World Schools Championship...

Handball World Schools Championships: here we go for the P.E. teachers of the Academy of Rouen !

On Monday 11 September 2015 at the Lycée Hôtelier Georges Baptiste in Canteleu (a hotel and catering school), the Service Regional UNSS organized its first meeting concerning the 23rd Handball World Schools Championship which will take place from March 11th to 19th in Métropole Rouen Normandie. 48 teams of boys and girls, 1,000 contestants all in all, will compete in Rouen and its suburban towns and will try to win the 2016 World Champion title.

Mr Frédéric DE BELLIS, the secondary school headmaster, greeted the 160 P.E. teachers who had applied for the organisation and were present that day. Mr François DALIPHARD, Regional Director of the UNSS, presented the project and how the championship will proceed. Each teacher could choose one of the twelve working committees proposed: accommodation, conviviality, culture, IT, media, merchandising, officials, secretarial work, security, sport and transport.

For this very special event, “for young people, by young people”, we will gather together numerous primary and secondary schools from the Academy which will be there as both organizers and audience.

The next step for all of us: the (random) group draws on Thursday 7 January during the Golden League at the Kindarena in Rouen.

The presentation was followed by warm conversations.
